Little Digger

Prairie dogs are just cute. I couldn't help taking this picture. It took some effort to get it right. Those little critters just don't sit still (they're worse than my rabbit), and getting one sitting up, in front of holes like this, was almost impossible. Once again, I was quite lucky.

Elephant Face

I took this picture just because I thought it would be cute. You know, watching the elephant eat, close up, almost so close you can see it drool. (Who wants to see an elephants drool?)

Lamp and Candle

I took this piece only because of my fascination with fire and flames, and the fact that flames and their reflections usually make pretty good pictures. I was over a friend's house, and they decided to bring out this old fashioned oil lamp. The wick was a little too high and the flame, as you can see, was quite large.

Shipyard Shadows

This picture was taken at the Chrysler Museum of Art. One of the art pieces hangs from the rafters in the main court, and the shadow that piece makes on the wall, depending on the sunlight, can be very interesting, as you see here.
I think I had just gotten my camera when I took this; I'm lucky it came out the way I wanted it.

Reflection of a Flame

I took this picture while sitting around chatting after dinner at my parents-in-law's house. We were sitting in a sunroom, with the light out, and there was a candle sitting off to my right. I'm intrigued by flame and fire anyway, and I was fascinated by the candle flame flickering off the side of this glass.
Granted, the reflection of the flame is only a small part of this picture, but at the time that was the main subject of this piece.
The rest of it is nice too, I suppose.

Turtle Under Glass

I had to wait almost 20 minutes for this turtle to pass by the glass like this. He was just floating around in his tank, acting like I had nothing better to do than watch him float around. Guess he wasn't aware that I wanted to take his picture. Well, that's a turtle for you.
As a side note, when you take a picture in front of a glass tank, make sure you have the flash off. I saw a lot of people taking a picture of this tank, and nearly all of them used their flash. I just didn't have the heart to tell them that all they would see is a bright white light when they develop their film.

King of the Hill

I like this piece because of the look on the lion's face. He has that "Man I'm bored, and it would be great to chase that photographer for a bit" look.

This was taken the same day that I managed to get some really great film of the male and female lion cuddling with one another. They looked so loving and playful. I really had no idea lions could be like that. They must have laid there, cuddling for nearly five minutes straight.
Then the male got tired of it, I suppose, and headed up to the top of the rock in this picture.
